What is your greatest achievement in your career?

"My greatest achievement in my career is finally building SiSTEM. We never believed we were the right people to create this organisation because we did not know anyone in the industry so we sat on the idea for a year. Once we finally got over that fear we were able to impact the lives of so many women. Sharing our stories and inspiring others is a vital part of the success of SiSTEM. Realising that we were more than capable to fulfil the mission of the company was life changing."

Who or what inspires you in your work?

“We speak a lot about our mother when we talk about our career journeys. For me, she was pivotal to me becoming an engineer because she encouraged me to be resilient. Other people that have inspired me are the amazing people in my network; Ama Frimpong, Dr Bernidine, Dr Ollie and Nike Folayan, Danielle Knight, Tony Hyland, Akua Opong, Bamidele Farinre and the list could go on. An honourable mention to my older sisters being the last born has its perks of watching others pave the way for you. Thank you especially to Abigail for our sisterhood.”

Please provide one piece of advice for future global ethnic-majority engineers.

“One piece of advice I would give is to find your community. You will go further with people in this race for diversity and inclusion in engineering than running alone. There are so many organisations out there willing to help bridge that gap. Find your tribe and excel, this field is for everyone.”
