"Get some skin in the game for anything you are interested in. It's important to show, not just tell, your passion and dedication"

What is your greatest achievement in your career?

"One of my greatest career achievements has to be winning the Extreme E world championship in 2022. In that year, I was promoted to become the team's Performance Engineer in the second year of the championship, which was an incredible honour. This is closely followed up by a significant moment earlier in my career at Rolls-Royce, where I redesigned a component in the jet-engine and managed to save £50 million in R&D costs within ten weeks. These experiences have been incredibly rewarding and affirming in my engineering journey."

Who or what inspires you in your work?

“My faith is a major source of inspiration for me, driving me to serve my way to the top through servant leadership. This philosophy, which emphasises service, is something I've learned from my parents, particularly my mum, who has always been focused on serving others and my inspiration in everything I do. By adopting servant leadership, I believe we can design and produce the best products. Coming from humble beginnings, I've been inspired to be resourceful and creative, making the most out of limited environments.”

Please provide one piece of advice for future global ethnic-majority engineers.

“My biggest piece of advice is to get some skin in the game for anything you are interested in. It's important to show, not just tell, your passion and dedication. By actively engaging and taking risks in your areas of interest, you can achieve great things and make meaningful contributions to the field of engineering.”
