What is your greatest achievement in your career?
"It was such a huge honour to be asked to accept the constructors trophy at the Styrian Grand Prix 2020 alongside Lewis. It was a very surreal moment and the reaction has been quite fantastic from all over the world. This moment meant so much to not only myself and my family but lots of young people around the world who got to know about my role within F1 but also felt inspired to learn more about my education and career pathway to get to this point. I love to mentor the next generation and to help them believe in their true potential. In addition to this I would say winning a world championship with X44 in the Extreme E championship in 2022 was also a significant point in my career.."
Who or what inspires you in your work?
“My parents have always inspired me. They have supported me in all aspects of life and have sacrificed a lot to get me to where I am today. They gave up everything we had in Zimbabwe to move to the UK to allow myself and my siblings to have more opportunities available to us. Having that support structure from my family has been fundamental in my journey. In addition to this Lewis Hamilton has always inspired me, he gave me the confidence to apply for a role in motorsport as he was the representative role model within F1 that allowed me to believe that there was a space for me in the sector. In addition to this the support he has been giving me on my journey .”
Please provide one piece of advice for future global ethnic-majority engineers.
“My advice to future global Ethnic-Majority Engineers is to never give up on your dreams. Work hard in the early stages of your career and focus on expanding your knowledge and learning from everyone around you to give you the best foundation. Be determined and do not let any negative situation put you down, anything is possible if you put your mind to it.”
