What is your greatest achievement in your career?
"Helping to shape the future generations of young people either starting out or looking to join the industry has by far got to be my greatest achievement in my career! There is no greater feeling for me than knowing I am able to offer advice, and inspire individuals to view engineering as a great career choice, by sharing my own journey and experiences. I have partaken as a guest speaker in many talks, STEM events and presentations highlighting the importance of breaking away from the stereotypes associated with industry and to encourage young people to foremostly follow their passions. Alongside this, I also love mentoring graduates in my place of work and ensuring they are guided and supported through their own journeys. "
Who or what inspires you in your work?
“Working with a fantastic team of talented professionals, in an innovative and ever changing environment truly inspires me in my role. I become motivated by the idea of not knowing what challenge each day may present and what complex problems we may need to solve to keep our workforce and employees secure from internet threats and attacks. The collaborative approach within the team to fixing issues means we are always learning and sharing knowledge form one another... and when a problem is finally solved, there is a big feeling of accomplishment!”
Please provide one piece of advice for future global ethnic-majority engineers.
“As you, yourself embark on your own personal journey, make sure to stay visible. We need to work together to continue motivating people who look like us, to not shy away from the STEM industry and you can play a massive part in inspiring somebody else to follow their dreams, by sharing your story.”
